The panelists talked about the economic policies of the Democratic presidential candidates, and the role of economic policy in the selection of a nominee and the 2004 general election. They said that there was a general consensus among the candidates that President Bush’s economic policy was a failure, but that real disagreements between the candidates existed on trade, health care, and tax issues. Mr. Hassett moderated the panel. Panelists responded to questions from the moderator and the audience. close
