At St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thomas Friedman spoke about the new paperback edition of his book, Longitudes and Attitudes: The World in the Age of Terrorism, published by Anchor. The book contains Mr. Friedman’s New York Times columns from September 2001 through June 2002 interlaced with diary entries and descriptions of his travels and interviews throughout this period. Mr. Friedman was stranded in Israel during the attacks. He ended up traveling throughout the Middle East, discovering how the terrorist attacks affected the region and uncovering many of the roots of anti-American sentiment. The book offers a reporter’s perspective on the world from outside U.S. borders and a consideration of the United States' role in the world. The paperback edition is updated to the beginning of the war in Iraq. After a brief presentation he responded to questions from members of the audience. close
