Following a U.N. Security Council meeting several officials spoke with reporters. The Security Council had unanimously adopted a resolution that called for a U.S.-led multinational force in Iraq and requested that member nations donate troops and money. All of the ambassadors responded to questions from reporters.

Ambassador De La Sabliere read a joint resolution from France, Germany, and the Russian Federation stating that they would not be providing any troops or funds to the reconstruction of Iraq.

Ambassador Parry lauded efforts to further the process of transferring power and responsibility to the people of Iraq without imposing a timetable.

Security Council President Negroponte declared that it was a good day for the people of Iraq and that they actions of the council would help the stabilization and political progress of Iraq. close
