Mr. Shehadeh talked about his book, When the Birds Stopped Singing: Life in Ramallah Under Siege, published by Steerforth Press. The book tells the story of the author’s life in the during the 2002 Israeli occupation of the town of Ramallah, which is located in the West Bank. Mr. Shehadeh, a lawyer and social activist, was forced to obey a curfew. The road to his house was blocked by an Israeli tank. In the book, the author discusses being trapped in his home and offers his opinions on ending the Israeli-Palestinian hostilities. close
