Co-authors Michael Barone and Richard Cohen discussed The Almanac of American Politics, 2004: The Senators, the Representatives and the Governors: Their Records and Election Results, Their States and Districts, published by National Journal Group. The almanac is a reference that provides a variety of both state and national political information, including biographies of all congressmen and governors, and narratives based on the statistical information for each state, congressional district, voting record, and census data. The introduction tries to provide a framework for the current state of government and the direction that politics is taking. The authors discussed how the book is put together as well as the current state of politics. Mr. Barone focused on the recent recall election in California and Mr. Cohen on the current redistricting of Texas. close
