Authors discussed the U.S.-Mexico border and related issues, including immigration, trade, and culture. Mr. Byrd is the author of a number of books, including The Late Great Mexican Border, published by Cinco Puntos Press; and Puro Border: Dispatches, Snapshots, and Graffiti from La Frontera, published by Cincinnati Companion. Ms. De la Garza is the author of A Law for the Lion, published by University of Texas Press. Mr. Carroll is the author of Blacks in Colonial Veracruz: Race, Ethnicity, and Regional Development, published by University of Texas Press. Mr. Bowden is the author of Down by the River: Drugs, Money, Murder, and Family, published by Simon and Schuster. Moderating the panel was Henry Cisneros, who served as secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President Clinton. Panelists responded to questions from the moderator and the audience. close
