Patricia Beard talked about her book, After the Ball: Gilded Age Secrets, Boardroom Betrayals, and the Party That Ignited the Great Wall Street Scandal of 1905, published by HarperCollins. The book examines American business ethics in the early twentieth century through the story of the struggle for control of the Equitable Life Assurance Society between majority shareholder James Hazen Hyde and the company’s board of trustees. The author showed slides throughout her presentation and answered questions from members of the audience afterwards. close
