Exploring Our Solar System
Ms. Ride, America’s first woman astronaut, talked about the book she co-authored, Exploring Our Solar System, published by Crown Books for Young Readers. Crown Books is an imprint of Random House. The book outlines what has been learned about our solar system from telescopes and spacecraft. Starting with Mercury and working outward, Ms. Ride describes the nine planets and explains the formation, current conditions, and possibility of life on each. Ms. Ride’s presentation included slides that focus on the characteristics of the planets and their moons. Following prepared remarks, the author responded to questions from the audience. close
