President Bush stood during a lunch with Republican senators in the U.S. Capitol, received the gift of a t-shirt reading “Back to the Fast Track” from Sen. Nickels, received a large gag “VETO” credit card from Sen. Dole, and advocated the passage of fast track legislative status for the North American Free Trade Agreement. He also called for the senators to beat down bad ideas in the Senate and continue their allegiance to the Republican party leaders. close
