Authors Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston, Clark Blaise, Elizabeth Nunez and Bharati Mukherjee discussed their immigrant experiences. The panelists related the stories and experiences created as their native and adopted cultures converged and how that has impacted their work. Patricia Hampl moderated the panel.

Ms. Houston is the daughter of first and second-generation Japanese American parents. She and her family were detained at Manzanar, a Japanese internment camp, during World War II. She has also lived in France. Mr. Blaise has lived in Canada, the United States, and India, where his wife, Ms. Mukherjee, is from. She has also lived in Europe. Ms. Nunez is from Trinidad. Ms. Hampl is of Czech descent. close
