Residents of Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, gathered at midnight to cast their votes in the New Hampshire primary election. Guests talked about the tradition of this first primary vote in New Hampshire and about the campaign. After votes were counted the results were announced. President George W. Bush received 11 votes, while Retired General Wesley Clark won the Democratic election with 8 votes. He was followed by Massachusetts Senator John Kerry with 3 votes, North Carolina Senator John Edwards with 2 votes, and Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman and Vermont Governor Howard Dean with 1 vote. close
