At the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Mr. Stossel talked about his book, Give Me a Break: How I Exposed Hucksters, Cheats, and Scam Artists and Became the Scourge of the Liberal Media..., published by HarperCollins. In the book, the author recounts his years as a consumer reporter. He argues that, through his reporting, he came to the realization that the government’s attempts to solve problems were generally inadequate, as is the system of liability law. Mr. Stossel believes that the public is best served by free market solutions. He recounted that although he is upheld as proof that the media is not liberal, the media in general does not accept him since he turned his skepticism from consumer fraud to larger social issues. Following prepared remarks, he responded to questions from the audience. close
