Future of the Manufacturing Industry
After his presentation Secretary Evans answered audience members' questions.
Secretary Evans' speech was already in progress. He talked about a comprehensive strategy to address the challenges to U.S. manufacturing, saying that manufacturing must be stronger to help improve the U.S. economy. The secretary talked about his announcement last week that $45 million in grants would be available from the economic development administration of the Commerce Department. Topics included globalization, outsourcing manufacturing jobs to other countries, the cost of email spam, and health care expenses.
