Ambassador Tobias, the newly-appointed State Department coordinator of the Global AIDS Initiative, testified about U.S. efforts to fight HIV/AIDS around the world. The initiative is part of a comprehensive 5-year global strategy to fight AIDS as required by Public Law 108-25. Topics included women’s rights, the culture of various countries regarding sexually-transmitted diseases, prevention, treatment, costs of the program, tuberculosis treatment, and prescription drugs. close
