Mr. Finkelstein talked about his book, Image and Reality of the Israel-Palestine Conflict, published by Verso Books. In his speech, Mr. Finkelstein argued that while different moral conclusions can be reached using the historical facts surrounding the origins of the Israel-Palestine conflict, the facts themselves are indisputable. He also said that the memory of the Holocaust and the charge of anti-Semitism are widely used to deflect criticism of Israeli policies toward the Palestinians. He discussed the work and views of a number of other scholars, including author Joan Peters, Israeli historian Benny Morris, and Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz. Following prepared remarks, Mr. Finkelstein responded to questions from the audience. close
