Co-editors Joseph Thomas and Junji Kitadai talked about their book, Drifting Toward the Southeast: The Story of Five Japanese Castaways, published by Spinner Publications. In the book, the editors provide the first English language account of John Manjiro’s 1852 voyage to the United States. This version of the book includes calligraphy and paintings from the original work. Mr. Thomas showed slides of many of the pictures from the book. close
