Ms. Neidel-Greenlee talked about the book she co-authored, And If I Perish: Frontline U.S. Army Nurses in World War II, published by Knopf. In the book, the writers tell the story of the women who went into combat with U.S. troops. From the opening battles in North Africa through the German surrender, U.S. Army Nurse Corps nurses provided care and support to troops on and behind the front lines. Ms. Neidel-Greenlee, herself a former military nurse, recounts some of the individual stories of women who volunteered to work as nurses for the U.S. Army during World War II. close
