John Lott, Jr. discussed his book The Bias Against Guns: Why Almost Everything You’ve Heard About Gun Control Is Wrong, from by Regnery Publishing. In this, his second book opposing gun control, he discusses his belief that liberals, both in the media and in politics, make a conscious effort to promote gun control and deceive the public. In a discussion moderated by George Landrith of Frontiers of Freedom, Dr. Lott presented the findings and conclusions of his book, taking the position that the benefits of gun ownership outweigh the risks. He discussed what he perceives to be the bias in the media and among the American public against gun ownership as a means to prevent crime and violence in the country. He was critiqued in this forum by Jim Kessler of Americans for Gun Safety, who challenged his contentions, and George Mason University Law professor, Lloyd Cohen, who supported Dr. Lott’s claims and discussed some of the sources of the bias against guns. close
