Guests talked about the detention of enemy combatants. The Supreme Court was scheduled to hear oral arguments in two related cases the following Wednesday. In Hamdi v. Rumsfeld, the plaintiff challenged the constitutionality of executive branch decisions to detain American citizens, captured abroad as enemy combatants, indefinitely. Rumsfeld v. Padilla poses essentially the same question with regard to U.S. citizens seized in the United States. They also responded to viewer comments and questions. close
