Sen. Bill Bradley (D-NJ), member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources, Finance, and Select Intelligence committees, delivered the commencement address to the Georgetown University School of Business Administration’s 1991 graduating class. Following the awarding of an honorary doctor of humane letters degree, Sen. Bradley spoke on the world the graduates were about to enter and the conflicts facing America. He discussed the post-Cold War agenda for the U.S., which he said came down to better education for American children based on values. He called for a new means of paying for college for middle income families, which would allow the costs of college to be paid off over a specified number of years. The “self-reliance scholarships” would require an investment from America for America’s future. close
