Mr. Rauch discussed his book, Gay Marriage: Why It Is Good for Gays, Good for Straights, and Good for America, with several American Enterprise Institute scholars. In the book, published by Times Books, Mr. Rauch argues that gay marriage can only have a positive influence on American society, and that conservatives should therefore be in favor of it. He asserts that, far from damaging the institution of marriage, allowing gay marriages would permit gays and their families to benefit from its stabilizing effects. Those who support marriage, the author claims, should also support gay marriage. The participants answered audience members' questions. Meade, Kass and Lott were in the audience. close
