Congressional Democrats hosted an event commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court case that ended school segregation in the U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Maryland), chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, and other congressional leaders spoke. Secretary of Public Safety for Virginia, John Marshall, son of the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, spoke about the unfinished work of desegregation left undone. His father was one of the attorneys who carried Brown v. Board of Education all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court in the 1950s. close
