Dr. Jeffery Runge Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced proposed new NHTS regulations compelling manufacturers to provide side air bags, reinforced doors, or other technology to protect cars and light trucks against side-impact collisions beginning in 2009. The proposal is open for public comment for the next five months. After his presentation Mr. Runge answered reporters' questions. close
