Author Jeffrey Lockwood talked about his book, Locust: The Devastating Rise and Mysterious Disappearance of the Insect That Shaped the American Frontier, published by Basic Books. In the book, the author chronicles the emergence of the Rocky Mountain locust in the second half of the 19th century. He also attempts to explain why, after destroying nearly half of all agricultural resources in the United States, the locusts virtually disappeared. close
