David Haward Bain spoke about his book, "The Old Iron Road: An Epic of Rails, Roads, and the Urge to Go West", published by Viking Books. In the book, the author examines the history surrounding the first transcontinental railroad. He discussed about his decision to take his family west for two months in 2000. As they traveled along abandoned railroad tracks, they came across prairies, river towns, and battlegrounds that Mr. Bain uses to illustrate his history of the American West. Following prepared remarks, Mr. Bain responded to questions from the audience. close
