Author Ella Hilton talked about her memoir Displaced Person: A Girl’s Life in Russia, Germany, and America, published by Louisiana State University Press. The author described her childhood in refugee camps in Germany during WWII after the loss of her father. Her family ended up in rural Mississippi in 1952 after years of reinventing themselves in Nazi deportation camps. In addition to her experiences in Nazi Germany, Ms. Hilton also described life in America in the segregated south. Following her remarks, she answered questions from members of the audience. close
