The National Governors' Association hosted a discussion on the influence of consumers in the health care industry as the closing plenary session of the 2004 annual meeting. The session was called “A Consumer Driven Health Care System in the Digital Age.” Among the topics addressed were health care costs, the uninsured, accountability, and the use of technology to decrease costs and error rates.
