Lieutenant General Conaway described the attitudes of the soldiers and refuted the claim that morale among the troops was low. He cited various statistics about the Army and Air National Guard units that had been activated for duty as well as the problems the National Guard faced during its service in the Gulf region. He contrasted the troop buildup with that of World War II and explained that since 1945 National Guard troops have been called up five times for service. Coverage of the events ended with a montage of photographs which were taken of the Saudi Arabian people as well as of the American troops serving in Operation Desert Shield. close
