Ms. Shlaes described the new sense of freedom felt by Germans since the reunification. She mentioned the importance of the elections and of the destruction of the Berlin Wall, as well as the changes in Leipzig, where much of the revolution over the past months has taken place. During the interview with Mr. Stastny, scenes of Leipzig reflected the change from the rigid Communist rule to capitalism and newly-opened markets signified the drastic change in economies from one of government control to one of free markets. close
