Bradley Smith, Chairman of the Federal Election Commission, talked about the regulation of political advocacy groups, commonly referred to as 527 organizations. The previous day President Bush said 527 political groups were bad for the political system and he wants to get rid of soft money in the political process. The previous week the Federal Election Commission voted to regulate more of the 527 groups that are active in the election process. He also responded to audience telephone calls, faxes, and electronic mail. close
