Attorney General Thornburgh and Mr. Sessions spoke at a Justice Department Financial Institute Fraud Enforcement Conference, where they gave their comments on the state of ethics in business and public policy. Mr. Thornburgh, a former prosecutor in western Pennsylvania, served as a two-time governor of Pennsylvania and has established several programs to combat organized crime. He commented on the state of white-collar crime and the need to carry out certain law-enforcement proposals. He mentioned the savings and loan frauds and that the judiciary has prosecuted more than 500 individuals guilty of serious savings and loan fraud cases involving executives or cases where the amount involved is more than $100,000 in losses to the institution. Mr. Sessions explained that the faith of the American people was at stake due to the current illegal financial actions. close
