Chris Cox talked about the assault weapons ban legislation that will sunset at midnight tonight. The NRA opposed the legislation from the start and has worked actively to see that it is not extended. The NRA says it is not endorsing a candidate for president until Congress recesses this fall, but it is campaigning against Senator John Kerry, calling him “the most anti-gun Presidential nominee in United States history.” President Bush has voiced support for continuing the gun ban, but the NRA is not opposing him. Mr. Cox responded to audience telephone calls, faxes, and electronic mail. close
