Tim Russert moderated a debate between the Democratic and Republican candidates for Senator from Oklahoma. The candidates discussed a number of domestic and international issues. Former Oklahoma representative Tom Coburn (R) called for a freeze on government spending while Democratic congressman Brad Carson spoke about the need for deficit reduction through more directed cuts. They spoke about their relationship to their parties' presidential nominees. Both candidates addressed highway and transportation spending. Mr. Coburn responded to charges that he sterilized a patient without her consent and submitted fraudulent claims to Medicaid while he was a doctor in private practice. close
