Senator Gore spoke at a convention entitled, “Empowerment '92: A Call to Action,” sponsored by the National Rainbow Coalition and the Citizen Education Fund. In his remarks, Sen. Gore illustrated the differences between the Democratic party and the Republican party concerning issues, as illustrated by their opposing stances on the family leave bill. He advocated a new unity among Americans on domestic issues following the Persian Gulf war, and criticized the “Republican syndrome” of ignoring domestic and personal issues. close
