A panel of economists discussed the impact of outsourcing and insourcing on the U.S. economy and its relationship with the broader global economy. They noted that many jobs that have been outsourced offshore are the least desirable jobs in the U.S. They also talked about the impact of outsourcing on foreign economies such as that of India. While noting that the overall rate of outsourcing is quite small, they also asserted that it does offer some advantages to the U.S. economy. They also spoke about the relationship between outsourcing and productivity. Following their remarks, the panelists responded to audience questions. close
