Mr. Mosbacher spoke at a seminar on trade with Japan sponsored by the Center for Strategic and International Studies. In his remarks, Mr. Mosbacher discussed the president’s plan to bolster the economic strength of the U.S. The plan is made up of three main points: to eliminate the trade deficit, to create an improved domestic economic climate, and to maintain equal access to international markets for American business. He supported the administration’s economic plan, saying the trade deficit, although still persisting, was decreasing. He related the plan to the U.S. approach to Japan, in which he advocated reducing the deficit by increasing exports rather than reducing trade. close
