South Dakota At-Large House Debate
Former Representative Bill Janklow, found guilty of felony manslaughter and three misdemeanors for his involvement in a fatal traffic accident, resigned his House seat on Jan. 20, 2004. Representative Herseth won a special election to fill the remainder of Representative Janklow’s term. Larry Diedrich, first elected to the South Dakota Senate in 1996, lost the special election to her in June.
