Mr. Burkett talked about his book Stolen Valor: How the Vietnam Generation Was Robbed of Its Heroes and Its History, published by Verity Press Publishing. He is a Vietnam veteran and is the research advisor for a Sinclair Broadcast Group documentary Stolen Honor. He argued, “Every thing that has to do with Vietnam veterans has been negative.” He asserted that the diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder among Vietnam veterans has been overstated. He claimed that protests against the war lengthened the war and caused the U.S. to lose. He also discussed the issue of falsification of credentials and military records. He responded to questions from members of the audience. close
