Generals Cody and Shoomaker spoke about efforts to improve Army readiness. They discussed awards given to a number of units for their excellence in readiness, and steps being taken to maintain and improve morale during the war in Iraq. They spoke about the Army’s role in fighting the War on Terror, and changes being made in the Armed Services to reflect new tasks and demands. General Cody noted, “sustained operations will be the rule and not the exception” in the coming years. close
