David Harris talks about his book The Crisis: The President, the Prophet, and the Shah - 1979 and the Coming of Militant Islam, published by Little, Brown. Twenty-five years ago in Iran, a group of Muslim University students invaded the United States Embassy in Tehran and took 63 hostages. In his book Mr. Harris retraced the steps taken by the Carter administration in handling the hostage crisis and the changing situation in Iran. He also wrote about the Shah’s exile to Europe, Muslim cleric the Ayatollah Khomheini, and the notion of the “October Surprise.” Following his remarks he answered questions from the audience. close
