Representatives Pelosi and Matsui spoke with reporters about the election results. They acknowledged the Democrats losses in the U.S. House of Representatives and spoke about the success of a controversial Republican redistricting effort in Texas. They noted that they hoped for a bipartisan Congress in the coming year, but had no plans to compromise the Democratic Party’s principles on issues such as women’s rights and Social Security.
