Mr. Smerconish talked about his book Flying Blind: How Political Correctness Continues to Compromise Airline Safety Post 9/11, published by Running Press. It addressed the policies of the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Transportation Safety Administration with regard to airline security screening procedures. Mr. Smerconish said that current policies were influenced by political correctness, which limited the authority of the screeners. He also criticized racial profiling by screening agents. Following his remarks he answered questions from the audience. close
