Members of the Research Advisory Committee on Gulf War Veterans Illness announced the release of their report, “Scientific Progress in Understanding Gulf War Veterans' Illnesses.” They talked about the methods used in preparing the reports, the committee’s research efforts, and previous government efforts to study illnesses suffered by Gulf War veterans. They noted that continued research is needed. Veterans Affairs Secretary Anthony Principi spoke about the need to make practical advances in treatment of Gulf War veterans and noted the 'need to be open to unconventional thought and diagnoses." He related the Department of Veterans Affairs and its efforts to deal with the illnesses of Gulf War veterans. close
