Judge Williams, chief justice of the Supreme Court of Rhode Island, talked about the reasons that 70 percent of the soldiers of the Union Army voted for Lincoln in the 1864 election. Lincoln’s opponent was General George McClellan. He showed many pictures from the book. After his presentation he answered audience members' questions.
