A panel of experts met at the U.S. Institute of Peace and described the situation in Sudan and examined political and military policy options that the U.S. and the United Nations could use to stop the genocide in Darfur. After their presentations the speakers answered audience members' questions.

It was noted that the United Nations Security Council had taken the unusual step of meeting outside New York City, in order to call attention to the serious situation in Sudan. close
