Panel members-- Anand Panyarachun, former Prime Minister of Thailand, and Gro Harlem Brundtland, former Prime Minister of Norway--talked with reporters about the “Report of United Nations Panel on Threats, Challenges and Change.” The panel members have been investigating threats to peace and obtaining the opinions of people in various countries about threats, with the intention of producing a system that would meet the challenges of the future. Topics included nuclear terrorism, collapse of states, poverty, disease and civil war. The report was commissioned in 2003 by U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan. Panel members answered reporters' questions.
