Mr. Washington described the changes in lifestyle and culture he has encountered since his arrival in Tokyo. Major differences from Los Angeles, his hometown, included the increased safety and the more homogeneous population of Tokyo. He led a walking tour of the Church Street district, pointing out the various American products at several markets. He also described the neighborhood in which he lived and the interaction he has had with fellow Japanese students and colleagues. close
