Experts talked about public opinion amongst Palestinians. Mr. Shamir showed slides and described survey results reported by the Joint Israeli-Palestinian Public Opinion Research Project which is a joint initiative of the Truman Institute for the Advancement of Peace at Hebrew University and the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research. The research initiative has tracked Palestinian public opinion since 2000. He also talked about one 2003 survey that asked both Israelis and Palestinians whether they would recognize the two separate states of Israel and Palestine, that had positive replies on both sides. Mr. Shikaki also talked about surveys of Palestinians about reconciliation and other issues. After their presentations the panelists answered audience members' questions. close
