Physicians spoke at a meeting to assess the safety records of arthritis drugs such as Vioxx and Celebrex. They also talked about recent uses of the class of drugs, the medical and scientific basis for the use of the drugs, and recent research showing a link between some uses of the drugs and heart attacks.

A joint meeting of the Food and Drug Administration’s Arthritis and Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committees is holding a forum on the safety of “COX-2” inhibitors. The function of the advisory committee is to provide advice and recommendations to the FDA on regulatory issues. close
