Ms. Greenberg and Mr. Dratel talked about the book they edited, The Torture Papers: The Road to Abu Ghraib, published by Cambridge University Press. It is a compilation of U.S. government memos and reports concerning the use of torture in Afghanistan, Iraq and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The editors and a panel of commentators discussed what the documents reveal about the Bush administration’s policies toward the use of torture as an interrogation method. Scott Horton moderated the discussion. All the panelists answered questions from members of the audience following their remarks.
